New updates about IASI : CO, O3 et PAN

AERIS provides new updates for IASI products, ensuring the continuity and consistency of data from Metop satellites. These updates concern carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3) and peroxyacetate nitrate (PAN).

CO/O3 products (Climate Data Record – CDR)

  • Level 2 and 3 CO and O3 products are now constructed from a homogeneous set combining CDR data (stable series) and ICDR data (interim CDR; near real-time version of the CDR), ensuring consistency and temporal continuity across the three Metop-A, B and C satellites.
  • Processing is carried out by EUMETSAT using the FORLI algorithm (v20151001).
  • Temporal coverage: July 2007 – present
  • Availability: Level 2 (daily; vertical profiles and integrated columns): daily, with 1 day of latency
  • Level 3 (monthly; integrated columns): monthly, with 1 month of latency

Data access and quicklooks: CO | O3

Sixteen years of tropospheric ozone monitoring by IASI show a significant decrease, particularly in the tropics and Europe, highlighting the importance of having consistent data sets to analyse long-term trends (Boynard et al., 2025).

PAN Products (Reanalysis)

  • New PAN reanalysis data, level 2, are available for Metop-A, B and C.
  • The products are generated by the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) using the ANNI-PAN-v4R algorithm, based on a hyperspectral index and conversion via neural networks, ensuring better temporal and inter-satellite consistency.
  • Temporal coverage: July 2007 – June 2025
  • Updates: approximately every 4 months
  • Quicklooks will be available shortly.

Data access: PAN
