AWIT
Atmosphere-WInd Turbine interactionsObjective of the project
AWIT is a project related to the study of interactions between airflow and wind turbines. It brings together meteorological observation data from an operational wind farm (the Saint-Hilaire de Chaléons wind farm in Pays-de-Loire, operated by VALEMO/VALOREM) and data from various associated physical and numerical simulations (wind tunnel experiments, atmospheric/aerodynamic/aeroelastic simulations). On-site data will be obtained from sensors rarely used by wind farm operators, namely 3D sonic sensors on several heights of an 80m meteorological mast, measurements by instrumented drone and remote sensing measurements (LIDAR Doppler nacelle and scanner, radiometer, ceilometer). These measurements will be synchronised with the operating parameters of the wind turbines in the park (power produced, wind direction of the nacelle, rotor speed, etc.) and with innovative aerodynamic and structural sensors installed on one of them.
