ZOOM ON THE FROGS DATABASE

The FROGS (Frequent Rain Observations on GridS) database consists of a collection of precipitation products from various origins (in-situ, reanalysis and satellite) with a homogeneous format, all set to the same 1°x1° 1-day resolution, in netCDF-4 and respecting CF and ACDD standards (Roca et al.,2019). This effort was initiated in the context of the WCRP GEWEX project and initially led by Rémy Roca and Sophie Cloché with the help of NASA and Lisa Alexander’s team in Australia and also with the support of the Megha-Tropiques mission, one of whose products, TAPEER , is part of the database. Since 2020, the Megha-Tropiques team alone has been maintaining, expanding and completing the database, as well as distributing it and maintaining the website. Currently, the archive contains more than 40 products and is up to date until the end of 2020. The ESPRI/AERIS teams, in particular Jérémie Trules, will now be responsible for maintaining the website and updating the products and versions of this database. An update will be available very soon.
